The story behind my song .The latest song, “Mabaphe Bephila,” is based on a true story from Mr. Buthelezi’s life. He had an uncle who died three times, and eventually, Mr. Buthelezi himself died and came back to life in 2013. His uncle was addicted to cigarettes and alcohol. One day, while he was tying a truck load, he fell from the top and was taken to the hospital. The doctor declared him dead, and the family came to collect his body after seven days at Standerton Hospital. His body was given to the family, and that is when the uncle came back to life for the first time. However, his first death did not change his life.
The uncle died again in Amsterdam, Mpumalanga, in front of Mr. Godgiven Buthelezi, who was preparing to go to school. Mr. Buthelezi saw his uncle releasing strange bubbles and kicking for the last time. Mr. Buthelezi’s aunt started crying, and they called the neighbors after declaring the uncle dead. But God had a different plan; the uncle came back to life 10 hours later that same day. Some neighbors were mourning with Mr. Buthelezi’s family when the uncle got up, leaving everyone flabbergasted and some even frightened.
After the uncle came back to life for the second time, he decided to give his life to God at Kwasizabantu Mission during the youth services. He even gained weight since he was no longer smoking or drinking. Mr. Buthelezi was astonished by the work of the Almighty because He had carried his uncle out of addiction and given him an opportunity to be saved.
In 2013, Mr. Buthelezi was hosting a crusade campaign in Mpumalanga when a seven-headed snake snatched him from his room and flew him into the sky, straight into a deep water filled with crocodiles. “I cried to God, asking Him to set me free from that serpent,” but God was silent, knowing He had a better plan. The massive serpent took him underwater, where he saw caves built with human skulls and skeletons. The cave had no door, but people were inside. The serpent pushed him toward the entrance, but an invisible barrier prevented him from entering, which made the serpent extremely furious.
The serpent told him that he could not enter the cave because Jesus had already claimed him. Therefore, the serpent could only cause him difficulties while he was still on earth but could never claim him because Jesus Christ had already taken him. While the serpent was speaking, the sun rose around 8 a.m., and people were walking on a bridge above the dam. As the sun came closer, the serpent fled, leaving him alone. He heard a voice calling his name, telling him that he would not die but would return home to preach God’s word to His people. Immediately after, the Lord transported his body back home. When he arrived, he was gone for a few minutes before coming back to life. Some neighbors were around him, and he had to explain what had happened: “God saved me from death and redeemed me for His purpose.”
The song “Mabaphume Bephila” is a prayer to God, asking Him to deliver His people in the same way he was delivered.
